Today I read Colossians 1:11-12
11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy,
12 always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.
Vs 11- Can I just make this my personal prayer? I love the version in The Message, it says, "We pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul- not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives." Wow , oh wow! How many times have I prayed just to get through a day- accepting the teeth gritting as long as I "make it". I should be praying for the endurance AND the joy that only God can give in those moments.
Vs 12- I take this verse as a sort of "count your blessings" reminder. First off, we must remember to thank God. He alone qualifies us as acceptable to receive the inheritance He has set aside for us in Heaven.
1. Pray this over my life. Oh, how I would love to have endurance and joy, no matter what I'm facing.
2. Remember to thank Him- it's like I've gotten a gift, but forgotten to thank the giver. Even worse than that, really, because the gift is everlasting, which means that so also should be my thanks.
